Turner places his stamp on MRA season opener at High Plains Raceway
Outstanding weather greeted the opening round of the 2012 MRA season, held at High Plains Raceway on May 5th & 6th. With over 120 registered riders, clear skies and a brand new course configuration, the stage was set for an awesome weekend of motorcycle racing.
Dan “Otis” Turner wasted no time putting his mark on the 2012 Race of the Rockies Championship. He dominated the premier class by pulling over 20 seconds on his competitors by the race finish.
Series regular, Shannon Moham, accomplished 8 race wins over the weekend including the Race of the Rockies GTU race and Heavyweight Superbike on his YZF R6 and Lightweight GP and SuperTwins GTU on his SV650. A strong competitor in every class he races, Shannon always puts on a good show for the fans often racing multiple classes back-to- back.
Round 2 will be held May 19th and 20th at Pikes Peak International Raceway. Race tickets are just $10 at the gate and kids under 12 get in free; stop by any Colorado motorcycle dealership to pick up a free 2for1 gate entry. In honor of Armed Forces Day the MRA will be offering military personnel with an active ID a free entry into our SuperStreet class on Saturday May 19th! The SuperStreet class offers riders a classroom session, on-track instruction and a taste of competition as a part of the regular race weekend.
