John Marshall, 2:07.821 More, from a press release issued by Geiger Media: KLR Group Harley-Davidson rider Wyman on the pole at Infineon Raceway SONOMA, Calif. (May 5) Kyle Wyman zoomed to his second AMA Vance & Hines XR 1200 Series pole of the season Saturday at the Great Clips West Coast Moto Jam at Infineon Raceway. “I’m trying to learn the track and get it nailed down in my head,” Wyman said. “I really went to work on those qualifying laps. Pole position feels good; first time since Daytona. That was only one race ago but it seems like a long time.” Wyman had a best lap of 1:46.906 seconds around the 2.32-mile, 11-turn road course, which was .269 seconds ahead of his closest rival. “I can’t wait until tomorrow’s race,” said Wyman, who won the season-opening race in Daytona. “It’s going to be fun because the top three guys are all really close so it will be a good battle up front between the three of us.” Points leader Tyler O’Hara lines up second after a 1:47.175 and Michael Barnes qualified third following a 1:47.352. Wyman, who is riding with a broken heel this weekend, said the foot was actually the least of his health concerns on Saturday. “I feel pretty good overall except I’ve been fighting a cold,” Wyman said. “The heel just isn’t a factor when I’m on the bike. I don’t think about it at all. “I couldn’t be happier for everyone with the KLR Group and GK Motorsports, hopefully we’ll add a win to this pole position for them tomorrow. If we do, I might just ride this bike to New York and drive it straight into their lobby so we can celebrate together.” The AMA Vance & Hines XR 1200 Series will kick racing off at Infineon Raceway starting at 12:30 p.m. PDT Sunday. Coverage of the Great Clips West Coast Moto Jam will air on SPEED starting at 11 p.m. EDT Sunday.
