AMERICAN SUZUKI AND YOSHIMURA RACING COMMITTED TO WORKS RACING EFFORT IN AMERICA BREA, CA (May 4, 2012) American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) is proud to announce their commitment to racing and their continued close relationship with Yoshimura R&D of America as their sole partner for the highest echelon of Suzuki’s racing efforts in the United States. Yoshimura Suzuki’s storied success was highlighted again just two weeks ago with Blake’s Young’s amazing comeback win at Road Atlanta Superbike. The Wisconsin native was crashed out of the race, which resulted in a red flag. Despite a heavy get-off, Young was able to get his Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 back to the pits where his crew went to work to get him back out for the restart. Young restarted from the back row, put his head down and worked his way through the field to pull off the win of a lifetime. It was a true testament of not only the will of Young but the strength of the team as well. Suzuki and Yoshimura’s relationship go back over 30 years when Yoshimura took on the works road race effort in the late 70’s. Yoshimura and their close association with Suzuki has led to their domination of AMA Superbike racing over the past decade as Yoshimura Suzuki has won ten AMA Superbike Championships over the last 13 years. In 2010, Yoshimura took the reigns for the Suzuki championship-winning Supercross and Motocross efforts in the USA as well and jumped out of the gate sweeping both the 2010 AMA Supercross and Motocross Championships. “Suzuki and Yoshimura have had a very successful, close relationship for years,” said Suzuki Senior Director of Motorcycle Sales and Marketing, Larry Vandiver. “We are looking forward to years of continued success with Yoshimura managing our works racing effort in America for road racing, supercross and motocross. Suzuki is committed to racing as it is a basic DNA of our company and Yoshimura is the perfect partner to ensure we grow our domination in the sport of motorcycle racing.” “We’re very proud of our relationship with Suzuki,” said Yoshimura Racing President, Don Sakakura. “We’ve had much great success over the years and we look forward to continually stepping up our efforts in the future with our partnership with American Suzuki. Our business is racing and our association with Suzuki has been quite beneficial for both of our companies.” Yoshimura Suzuki’s next events are the third round of the 2012 AMA Pro Superbike Championship at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA, on May 4th 6th, 2012 and the 17th round of the 2012 AMA/FIM Supercross Championship on Saturday, May 5th, at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, NV.
