Sportbike Track Girl Announces Two “Ladies First” All-Female Track Days For 2012 Female Division of Sportbike Track Time Experienced Huge Success in 2011 April 23, 2012, Holland, MI –It was announced today that Sportbike Track Girl will be hosting two “Ladies First” dates in 2012. “2011 was our first year for the Ladies First event. It was a phenomenal success, with more than 55 women riders on track. So not only is Ladies First returning this year, it’s back TWICE in one season in order to support the demand”, said Christi Midlam, Director Sportbike Track Girl. The all-female track days are scheduled for June 29, 2012 at Grattan Raceway in Belding, Michigan, and on October 1, 2012 at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. Sportbike Track Girl members will receive a special discounted rate. Sportbike Track Girl (www.sportbiketrackgirl.com) is a women’s track day organization that focuses specifically on empowerment through on-track instruction, education, access to women-specific gear and discounted products and services. The “Ladies First” days will follow a traditional track day format, with 3 groups and track sessions of 20 minutes. Riders will choose their group based on track experience and skill level. Riders that are new to the track or have limited intermediate track experience can participate in the Novice group. Novice group riders receive classroom and on-track instruction, including critiquing of track riding skills. Instructors will accompany riders on all track sessions throughout the day. Citing the success of Ladies First, 2011, Richard Harris said, “We had an amazing amount of first-time track riders at the premier of Ladies First. It really opened the gates for women that may have been intimidated to try the track””and they came out in droves. The success speaks volumes for a quickly growing trend in motorcycling, and paves the way for women in our sport.” Riders that are comfortable with high-speed cornering, braking and passing can participate in the “Intermediate” group. The Advanced group is limited to club racers and very accomplished track riders. Tire and suspension services, photography and multiple vendors will be on site throughout the event. Riders will have the opportunity to win gift certificates, women-specific gear and other free prizes throughout the day. ST Girl programs such as “TAP” (track assistance program), enable women to do track days more easily, without having to rely on others to attend. ST Girl customers will have technical, mechanical and logistical assistance so that they can attend track days independently. Because women’s gear can be expensive and difficult to find, ST Girl offers free leathers rental and “buy/sell/trade” forums. “Our intent is not to segregate, but rather to incorporate women into a male-dominated sport. By calming the fears of new riders and catering to their needs, we hope to significantly increase the confidence of the female rider. Both “Ladies First” events will be followed by regular track days on Saturday and Sunday, open to all riders.
