The second round of the 2012 AMA Pro Racing season begins Friday, April 20th at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia. Celtic Racing will arrive at Road Atlanta firmly in the lead of the 2012 AMA Pro SuperSport Championship. 2011 Champion James Rispoli leads the AMA Supersport West standings, and Corey Alexander leads the AMA Supersport East points after both riders had great success at Daytona. Celtic Racing has spent the short break since the races at Daytona and the test at Homestead preparing for Road Atlanta. Road Atlanta is a challenging road course circuit that demands careful chassis set up and offers the riders a great mix of elevation changes, passing opportunities, and high speed corners. Celtic Orient Express Racing’s James Rispoli is eager and hungry for the next round of racing, stating: “I am really excited for Road Atlanta to come back on the schedule this year. I think it’s going to be a great venue for good racing. After coming to a new team and winning the first round at Daytona I am stoked to continue working with my new team Celtic Orient Express Racing. The team has put everything in place for me to really excel this year. I have upped my training and overall endurance; shedding an additional 15 lbs since Daytona and I feel even more ready to race for wins at Road Atlanta.” National Guard Fairhills Group rider Corey Alexander is just as enthusiastic for the upcoming race, saying: “I’m really excited going into the second round at Road Atlanta especially having the points lead as well as a very successful Daytona for the team as well as myself. I know it’s going to be a great event due to all of the promotion work that M1 has done, and I know we will put on a great show for all the fans! It’s going to be a tough weekend, everyone is going to be fast. I know the National Guard Fairhills Group Suzuki GSX-R 600 will be fast, and the whole Celtic Racing team will provide us with some great bikes so it’s all up to me! Rispoli would ride his #1 Celtic Orient Express Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600 to victory in the first SuperSport race on Friday, with Alexander finishing fifth in the first race. Race two on Saturday saw Alexander battle for the lead on his #5 National Guard Fairhills Group Suzuki GSX-R 600, finishing a close second. Rispoli lead a majority of the race that saw a close battle among the top five, and would eventually finish just off the podium in fourth. Following the races at Daytona, Celtic Racing participated in an official AMA Pro two day test at Homestead-Miami Speedway, with both riders learning a great deal about their bikes and the team working closely to find more speed and confidence in each session. Celtic Racing was established 2001 by Barry Gilsenan, and over the past 11 seasons has established itself as a premier privateer racing team. Development of riding talent began with two-stroke 125cc, and 250cc machines competing in professional and regional championship events. More recent Celtic Racing efforts have focused on AMA Pro Road Racing in the Daytona SportBike and SuperSport classes with Ducati, Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha four stroke motorcycles. Gilsenan’s talent for coaching racers of all ages and abilities has brought Celtic Racing worldwide attention and recognition, with many former Celtic Racing riders now competing on World Championship levels.
