From 1999 “OMG! THE AMBULANCE IS ON THE TRACK!” Pic 1 shows the leading riders avoiding the ambulance while Mat Mladin (fourth rider from the left) starts evasive maneuvers. Pic 2 shows Mat in the red Georgia clay near the flagman in front of the ambulance after passing it on the right.
Pic 3 shows how far Mat went into the gravel trap. He rode back to the track and got back in the race. I cant make it to Road Atlanta this year so do not enter me in the contest. Just wanted to share the memories/photos.

Myself and my grandson Conner walking the pits, getting ready to ride the pit bike and “the guys,” as my wife tagged us, riding to the infield, with admonitions to be careful.
They were taken in April 2011. I was racing in the Historic Moto Gran Prix at Road Atlanta. We racing there along with the HRS boys at the Mitty. We race there twice a year, with the car guys. I raced AMA and CCS for years and then I got old and decided to dial it down a notch

My favorite races at Road Atlanta were between these two guys, Kurt Hall (60) and Greg Tysor (67). Back in the 1980s, these guys had tons of great battles! The first picture shows how close the racing was.
The Honda Hurricane was released in 1987 and I doubt that they raced it for more than a couple of years. It looks like both bikes have WERA stickers, although Tysor also has a AMA CCS sticker. I’m guessing it was the WERA GNF.
I’ve attached another pic that shows Scott Russell (22) and Jamie James in it also, I think.
