Press Demonstration for Local Media Held at NOLA Motorsports Park to Promote AMA Pro Road Racing Season Finale NEW ORLEANS, La. (April 13, 2012) – In the first official press demonstration held at NOLA Motorsports Park, Latus Motors Racing Triumph rider and 2011 DAYTONA® 200 winner Jason DiSalvo performed exhibition laps on the facility’s 2.75-mile road course for local news media on Friday. DiSalvo was joined by AMA Pro Racing, M1 PowerSports and track officials as well as representatives from local motorcycle dealer The Transportation Revolution New Orleans (TTRNO) to promote the Triumph Big Kahuna New Orleans presented by Dunlop Tire and LeoVince, scheduled for October 5-7 as the final round on the 2012 calendar. “The track is really fast and flowing,” DiSalvo said. “It reminds me of the some of the European layouts. You can tell that the same people that had involvement in the planning and engineering at Miller Motorsports Park have influenced this track because there are a lot of similarities between the two, but at the same time it has a really good blend of fast, flowing high-speed sections and stop-and-go tighter turns that will create great racing when we come race here in October.” The top-notch facility, which features a 23 acre main paddock, world-class karting track and excellent spectator viewing, is undergoing construction on the final parts of the initial development phase with a grand opening planned for June. DiSalvo enjoyed his eight laps on the Alan Wilson-designed road course and thinks the track’s final turns will make for exciting racing. “You come through a really fast high-speed section but then it slows down,” DiSalvo continued. “You kind of go from fast and flowing to slow and choppy and it’s that transition between the styles of the two different sections that’s going to be really neat. Also, the whole last portion of the track presents so many opportunities for passing and has so many different lines; it’s going to make for some great racing. Coupled with the fact that this is going to be the series finale, the last corners could make for some of the best racing we’ve ever seen.” Three of the 12 rounds on this year’s schedule will be Big Kahuna-themed events promoted by M1 PowerSports. In addition to the season finale at NOLA Motorsports Park, the Denver-based company will promote races at Road Atlanta later this month and at Homestead-Miami Speedway in September. M1 PowerSports CEO Cameron Gray is optimistic about the success of the first-time event in New Orleans, La. “This is a first-class facility and the New Orleans market is full of motorcycle enthusiasts,” Gray said. “Promoting AMA Pro Road Racing here as the track’s first professional event is something that we are very proud of. This is a very important market and we will be working extremely hard to deliver a complete entertainment package suited for the racing enthusiast and the casual fan alike.” DiSalvo has enjoyed his time in New Orleans and is looking forward to returning after the Triumph SuperBike Classic at Barber Motorsports Park for the official AMA Pro Road Racing test. Barber Motorsports Park, located 350 miles from New Orleans in Birmingham, Ala., will play host to AMA Pro Road Racing on the weekend of June 22 – 24 and the NOLA Motorsports Park Official Series Test is scheduled for the following Tuesday and Wednesday, June 26 – 27. “The atmosphere down here is crazy,” DiSalvo said. “This is my first time in New Orleans and I’ve only been here a day and a half, but I love it. The city is full of great people and great food. I was able to experience the French Quarter for the first time, and I’m really excited to get back here for some more of the Louisiana vibe. If we can translate that party atmosphere to the racetrack, it’ll make for a really great event.” Local motorcycle dealer The Transportation Revolution New Orleans (TTRNO) provided the stock Triumph Daytona 675R for DiSalvo’s on-track exhibition and will host a consumer promotional event Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.at the TTRNO dealership, located at 901 Julia St. in downtown New Orleans. The next event for AMA Pro Road Racing, the M1 PowerSports-promoted Triumph Big Kahuna Atlanta presented by Dunlop Tire and LeoVince, will be held next weekend, April 20-22 at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga.
