Attack Performance has entered Steve Rapp to ride its 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R in the 2012 AMA Pro National Guard Superbike season-opener March 15-17 at Daytona International Speedway, but the team’s plans for the remainder of the 2012 season remain on hold due to a pending sponsorship deal. “We’re entered,” Attack Performance Team Owner/Crew Chief Richard Stanboli confirmed to Roadracingworld.com. “We’re trying to work out all the final details right now. It will have nothing to do with Kawasaki. It will be a generic motorcycle. That’s about it. It’ll be with the bikes we ran last year and just sort of a way for Steve to get some points, maybe, with the idea of continuing. “We have about four weeks after [Daytona] when we’ll try to piece it all together. These things [sponsor deals] take forever to put together. We’re just going to go one race at a time and see if we can continue. I’ve got to make ends meet for my company as well as Steve. We’re just trying to piece it together right now. I want to see Steve out there. We get along with him real well. We’re also supporting Melissa Paris and building a couple of Yamahas for her.” Attack Performance and Rapp won the Daytona 200 together in 2007. They reunited late in the 2011 season, after Rapp’s ride with the San Diego BMW Superbike team ended. Rapp signed on to race the Attack Performance Kawasaki ZX-10R at the season-finale September 2-4 at New Jersey Motorsports Park. There, Rapp placed sixth in Race One and crashed while battling for the lead late in Race Two. Rapp also won two races and finished as the runner-up in the Vance & Hines XR1200 Championship in 2011.
