AMA Pro riders Danny Eslick and Cory West inspected NOLA Motorsports Park, located near New Orleans, Louisiana, late last week, and West reports that the racetrack should be fast and safe.

“[AMA Pro Racing Director of Road Racing David] McGrath asked me and Danny to come down and do an inspection,” West told Roadracingworld.com Wednesday. “We tooled around in a van, did probably a dozen laps, then slowed down in a couple of sections to get a good look at everything, but mostly that place is good. There were a couple of cornerworker stations they admitted they were going to move, but that was the biggest issue we saw.

“The track looks really good, looks really safe. All the curbs look really good. They’re identical to Miller-style curbs. That all looked real good.

“It’s wide, so there’s definitely going to be a variety of lines. And every area where there’s heavy braking they’ve paved a little extra [run-off zone] on the outside, so if you get in too hot you don’t run off the track. You can stand the bike up and brake real hard and still stay on pavement, which is cool.”

West, who races in the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike class for RidersDiscount Vesrah Suzuki, said he and Team Owner (and active racer) Mark Junge are planning to ride at NOLA Motorsports Park during a track day this coming weekend.

Eslick, who rides for Erik Buell Racing in the AMA Pro National Guard Superbike class, could not be reached prior to post time.
