DUA Motorsports Signs Raffa Louie Raffa, of Ste. Marthe, Quebec, has been signed to ride with major support from the Toronto-based DUA Motorsports Team for the 2012 Canadian road racing season. Raffa, coming back from injuries suffered at the opening round of the Canadian National Championship at ICAR near Montreal last year, will ride the DUA Motorsports-backed Honda CBR600R in the Mopar Canadian Superbike Series as well as selected regional races. “As well as the national series we want Louie to run as many races as possible in the emerging Quebec race scene,” Rahul Dua of DUA Motorsports confirmed. “Louie and I used to race each other and I believe in him. This is a comeback season for Louie and we want to support him as much as we can. Also Louie is going to be our ambassador in Quebec and with DUA Motorsports as co-sponsor it will give our product great exposure in that market.” Raffa was very pleased with the arrangement. “We really needed it,” he confirmed. “We were looking for a B bike, which if you’re going to do the nationals, you need. I got talking to Rahul and he offered me a bike and the bodywork deal. We do have a commitment to Stephane of Couturier Racing and will be under his colours, and now with Rahul’s support, let’s just say I am a very happy man, happy and lucky.” The 2011 season actually started very well for Raffa as he scored a third and a second place finish in Pro regional races prior to his misfortune at the first National race. “What happened in Montreal last year was a stupid mistake and I learned a lot from it,” said Raffa. “For this year I’ve been training really hard, we’ve already been down to Jennings and that went really well. I’ve been doing a lot of running and cardiovascular stuff so I’m in pretty good shape. I know I’m not the youngest guy out there but maybe the best looking.” Raffa’s first appearance in Canada will be the RACE Superseries opener May 4-6 at Shannonville Motorsport Park. Opening round of the Mopar Canadian Superbike National Series is June 22-24 also at Shannonville. DUA Motorsports specializes in sportbike fairings and carbon fibre parts.
