Erion Racing will not be distributing Dunlop racing tires in the western half of the United States in 2012. That’s the word from several sources with knowledge of the situation. Erion Racing owner Kevin Erion declined comment when reached by phone today. Dunlop’s Mike Buckley had not returned a phone message seeking comment at post time. Dunlop’s Sabastian Mincone had not returned an e-mail seeking comment at post time. But Steve Brubaker, whose company, Race Tire Service, handles Dunlop tire distribution in the eastern half of the country, said that racers headed to this coming weekend’s WERA West race at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California will be able to buy Dunlop tires and will have Dunlop service at the event. “Dunlop tire service will be present at the track,” Brubaker said. “Racers will be able to walk up to the Dunlop truck and get tires and service. I know for sure 100% there will be Dunlop tire service at the track.” Brubaker declined to comment specifically on the reported split between Dunlop and Erion Racing, but said that a press release would be forthcoming from Dunlop. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
