FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: Subject: Error in Your Article Dear Editors: I just thought I’d let you know that you have put some erroneous information in an article that is on your website right now. In the George Latus article you state that: “The team also added a new rider in the Supersport class with Dustin Dominquez riding a Triumph 675R. Dustin finished the East Coast Supersport Series in 4th, earning Triumph their first AMA win since 1999.” If you will check the AMA Archives, you will note that Mark Crozier won the AMA Pro SunTrust Moto-GT1 Championship in 2009. He rode the Augusta Triumph/Ducati Daytona 675 during all of the races (with the exception of Daytona at the end of the season) and won that championship aboard a Triumph. If you don’t understand what a press release is, click on the words “press release” above the post, which will take you here: ~https://www.roadracingworld.com/whatisapressrelease/~ The “press release” link takes readers to this explanation: WHAT IS A PRESS RELEASE? A “press release” is basically promotional text issued by a rider, team, company or organization presenting their version of reality, which may or may not be accurate. Press releases are issued to inform the public about an event, product, or service from the issuer’s own point of view, and if deemed to have news value, are placed on roadracingworld.com as a service to our readers. A press release is not an article written by Roadracingworld.com staffers. When a post is labeled with the words “press release,” it means that Roadracingworld.com staffers did not write it, did not issue it, are not responsible for its content and that Roadracingworld.com makes no guarantee that the contents of the press release are accurate. If you are outraged or otherwise disagree with the contents of a press release, your complaint is with the issuer of the press release in question. While we may (or may not) post e-mailed letters pointing out errors in or disagreeing with press releases, any posted letters blaming Roadracingworld.com for any such error made by the issuer of a press release will be labeled as being from someone who cannot tell the difference between a press release issued by a third party and a news story produced by Roadracingworld.com. Not all press releases are posted and Roadracingworld.com may reject press releases entirely if the content is too heavy on commercial promotion with little or no news value or if the press release contains obvious errors.
