Brainerd, MN (September 8) Zalusky Advanced Riding School and Track Days (ZARS) recently held its final round of the Shootout Series Championship and Track Day at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minnesota, on September 5, 2011. The event was held on the Competition Course and boasted the largest numbers seen at Brainerd on the road course in years. The Shootout Series was presented by Kim and John Anderson of Worldwide Machining and Welding, Inc. and Twin Cities Orthopedic and awarded over $1500 in cash prizes to all the top finishers in each of the five novice and expert classes. In the Expert GP 3/4, Scott Stalls dominated early but was unseated by Zach Hughes for the big win. Nick Campbell was hungry for the win and finished in a close 3rd place to round off the podium. In the Expert GP 1/2, Kyle Knutsen had an impressive lead from start to finish and took the checkered flag. In a close battle, Christian Schmidt finished strong in 2nd and Mark Miller in 3rd. As the 2011 Shootout Championship Series wraps up for the Experts, Nick Campbell is our GP 3/4 Champion and Mark Miller is our GP 1/2 Champion. In the Novice ranks, Adam Purves took his final win of the season in the Novice GP 3/4 class in a dominating fashion. Jake Northrup finished strong in 2nd and Brandon Soine finished in 3rd. In the Novice GP 2, Steve Johnson rode away in 1st place with Jake Hawthorne in 2nd and Shootout newcomer Cole Naymark in 3rd. In the first ever Novice GP 1, Robin Stremikis and Jack Barton battled for the win aboard Kawasaki Ninja 250’s. Despite Stremikis’s strong lead, Barton was able to take the checkered flag on the last lap. The 2011 Novice Shootout Championship Series comes to a close with Mike Knoll as the GP 2 Champ, Adam Purves as the GP 3/4 Champion and Jack Barton as the GP 1 Champion. The Midwest’s most talented Track Day riders took to the track and battled for big bragging rights and top finishes in the Rider Challenge. In the GP 4, Martin Holte took another big win and the Series Championship for GP 4! In the GP 3, rookie Michael Crotty had the most impressive win and lead of the day with Eric Mueller in 2nd and Michael Borgstrom in 3rd. In the GP 3 Championship, Eric Mueller took the victorious win with his stellar finishes. As the season and series comes to a close, ZARS is already working on an even more action-packed season with new track additions on the horizon for 2012.
