FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: It’s time to let go at age 43 against my heart and desire of the sport I have grown to love. You see it’s been my childhood dream to be a Superbike racer, ever since I saw Eddie Lawson dragging his knee on a poster. Although the best I ever finished was 11th, I discovered so much about myself pushing myself past what I ever dreamed of and never giving up even when life was numb during so much pain going through divorce, getting beat up by my wife’s boyfriend at the time, losing the love of my life, my family, my house and my AMA Pro Superbike license all within a small window. God was all that was left, as I was alone in San Diego disconnected from everything I was attached to. It was the best thing that ever happened to me, all of it, because God brought me to him, as I heard the voice of God while I was dead in my transgressions and he called me to get baptized for the forgiveness of my sins in the Pacific Ocean in San Diego on November 15th, 2010. Now I live in purity and life has a new meaning. This sport has meant much more to me than just racing. When you put your life on the line, faith is defined in its purest form as we push the brake markers past what we thought possible. I got to live the dream as an AMA Pro Superbike racer and grace that beautiful stage connecting with the beautiful fans of the sport. More fulfilling than any race win was watching and hearing people share with me what the “DREAM BIG ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE” bracelet meant to them in the ways they used it as inspiration. I hope that other racers put their name on the bracelets and use that same message, it’s always been about the people! I’ll miss the sport but I will see many of you on a different stage, I hope! I would stay however I can’t afford the extra technology and can’t chase 107% of the pole on a stock bike. I always said I would retire if I started going slower, but I am going faster so I’m not sure what to make of that. It was my dream to race for a few more years, but as many of you know God has other plans for me as he has revealed to me in revelations. I admit, it was the wildest dream imaginable with the calling and chance to be President of the United States of America behind “The Pledge Allegiance Bill” as we make a charge trying to get our freedom back and fix our constitution as an active AMA Pro Superbike racer creating beautiful synergistic energy! It’s been my pleasure, & privilege! May God bless the AMA Pro series, Roadracing World, Ben Spies, Al Ludington, the Pegram family, the Hayden Boys, Josh Hayes, and everyone’s future as they build the sport during these challenging times. Thanks you to Aussie Dave and All the crew! God knows I will miss everyone so much! I didn’t get to know many of the racers but I too share your heart! “Amen” Always, Johnny Rock Page #269 AMA Pro Superbike Phoenix, Arizona “Dream Big, Anything is Possible”
