Reiterberger fifth at the Nürburgring

During the first day of qualifying, Markus Reiterberger finished in fifth position, only one tenth of a second away from the provisional first row. Beau Beaton was 17th and Randy Pagaud le 23rd.

The quickest rider was the championship leader Davide Giugliano (Althea Racing Ducati). He was in front of Danilo Petrucci (Barni Racing Team Ducati), Sylvain Barrier (BMW Motorrad Italia) and Lorenzo Zanetti (BMW Motorrad Italia).

Behind these four riders on the provisional first row, Markus Reiterberger qualified in fifth with some brake problems. Beau Beaton had the 17th time and Randy Pagaud the 23rd position.

Markus Reiterberger: “The qualifying was OK but I had a few problems with the front brake. In some corners, the brake was good, but in the next corner it didn’t work properly. So it was very hard to ride fast. One lap was good, so I am in fifth position and I hope tomorrow I can go a little bit faster than today.”

Beau Beaton: “This morning, it was only my second time out with the BMW and the Pirellis on the wet. I was really happy with the settings. We made some changes from the last time we were riding in the wet. We definitely improved the bike. I was pleased with the times. This afternoon, we went back to a dry base setting but we had some small problems with the electronic. I have to be happy with the problem we had.”

Randy Pagaud: “The session started well with 12th position. I was happy. We had a problem with the quick shifter so it was complicated. I couldn’t go fast by the end of the session, so I finished 23rd. It’s not bad because the times are very close like in Brno. It’s good for the next days”.
