Yamaha Road Racing Teams Eastbound For New Jersey Showdown Cypress, CA The “Big Blue” transporters are loaded and on their way, and the Yamaha U.S. Road Racing Teams will soon be at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, New Jersey, for this weekend’s final round of the AMA Pro Racing season. Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha rider and defending American SuperBike Champion Josh Hayes is just five points out of the lead going into the final two races of the season at NJMP. He’s looking to earn maximum points for the weekend, including the two race wins, and the critical bonus points for pole position and leading the most laps in each race. Josh won both American SuperBike races at New Jersey Motorsports Park last season, and he also earned the two bonus points for leading the most laps in both races. In fact, Josh led every lap in Saturday’s race last year, except for the very first lap. Josh, who will pilot his number-1-emblazoned, crossplane-crankshaft Yamaha YZF-R1® around the 2.25-mile NJMP “Thunderbolt” road course, said, “This SuperBike Championship is there for the taking just like it was last year around this time. The entire Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha team has worked hard all year long to defend our title, and it all comes down to this”¦win and we’re in. That’s why I race, so I wouldn’t want it any other way.” Also in American Superbike, Yamaha Extended Service/Pat Clark Motorsports/Graves/Yamaha rider Chris Clark and his team are looking to finish the year strong. Chris has been one of the most improved riders in the series this season, and he’s looking forward to excellent results in both races this weekend. In Daytona SportBike competition, Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R6® rider Josh Herrin is also in second place in the Championship going into New Jersey. With a total of four race wins on the season–the most of any rider in DSB competition this year–Josh will be looking to add two more First-Place trophies to his rapidly growing collection. Winning the DSB title is also very much a possibility for the likeable rider from Dublin, Georgia. “We’ve been competitive all year long, and I’m aiming to do the double in New Jersey,” Josh said. “That’s all we can do”¦win and see where that puts us [in the Championship] at the end of this weekend.” Josh will face stiff competition from right within his own extended team as Tommy Aquino, who also competes aboard an R6 in Daytona SportBike, is looking to move up the charts from his 4th-place-finish at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Tommy, who races for Yamaha Extended Service/Pat Clark Motorsports/Graves/Yamaha, has consistently notched top-five finishes all season long, and he’s hungry to get his first win in the class. He led Sunday’s race three different times for a total of seven laps at NJMP last season, so the Californian knows what it takes to be out front on the challenging 14-turn East-coast course. MEET THE YAMAHA ROAD RACING TEAM RIDERS AT DEPTFORD YAMAHA On Friday night, September 2 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, be sure to stop by Deptford Yamaha at 1300 Clements Bridge Road in nearby Deptford, New Jersey. Josh Hayes, Josh Herrin, Chris Clark, and Tommy Aquino will all be on hand to meet fans, sign autographs, give away posters, and more. It’ll be your last chance to see Yamaha’s best and brightest U.S. motorcycle road racers up-close this season. TUNE INTO SPEED TV There’s nothing like watching motorcycle road racing live and in person, but if you can’t make it to the track, be sure to watch all the action from New Jersey Motorsports Park on Speed TV. For the exact days and times of the telecasts, be sure to check your local listings, or go to www.SpeedTV.com for more information. Follow the Yamaha U.S. Road Racing Teams on Facebook. More, from a press release issued by AMA Pro Racing: Four National Championships to Be Decided at AMA Pro New Jersey Season Finale New Jersey Motorsports Park hosts AMA Pro Road Racing Championship Weekend presented by Team Pro-Motion September 2-4 DAYTONA BEACH, FL – The final round of the 2011 AMA Pro Road Racing Championship will play out in an action-packed Labor Day Weekend event at New Jersey Motorsports Park, where no fewer than four national championships will be decided. At stake are the AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike, Daytona SportBike, and Vance & Hines XR1200 titles, while the young-gun AMA Pro Motorcycle-SuperStore.com SuperSport series will crown both an East Division Champion as well as an overall national champion. In the premier National Guard SuperBike class, the championship battle has come down to three riders: Rockstar Makita Suzuki teammates Blake Young and Tommy Hayden, and Monster Energy Graves Yamaha’s defending SuperBike champion, Josh Hayes. With six 2011 wins to his credit thus far, current points-leader Young is celebrating his most successful year of AMA Pro Racing to date, but Hayes — known for his determination — lurks just five points behind as the series enters its doubleheader finale. And while Hayden heads to NJMP a full race’s-worth of points back in third, he’s coming off of two consecutive race victories and is poised to strike should either of the top-two falter. The Daytona SportBike Championship advantage, meanwhile, rests firmly with 2009 class champion Danny Eslick (GEICO Powersports RMR Suzuki), whose closest rival — Monster Energy Graves Yamaha’s Josh Herrin — suffered the brutal disappointment of a mechanical DNF at the class’ previous round. But in a class known for multiple winners, intense racing, and unpredictable outcomes, even Eslick’s significant points lead can’t promise protection against the hard-charging Herrin, who is himself being stalked by Latus Motors Racing’s Jason DiSalvo, just two points behind in third. In the Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport class, local rider James Rispoli (ANT Racing Motorsports) has his New York-sights set on the East Division title as well as the overall Motocycle-Superstore.com SuperSport championship — in addition to part of the $25,000 year-end prize money, provided by class sponsor Motorcycle-Superstore.com, that goes with it. Rispoli holds a commanding lead in the East Division series over LTD Racing Y.E.S. Yamaha rider Tomas Puerta, whose teammate, West Division Champion David Gaviria, is Rispoli’s toughest competition for the overall title. And finally, thanks to the incredible action of the past weekend’s Red Bull Indianapolis GP — where the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 presented by Harley-Davidson Insurance doubleheader brought Harley-Davidson machinery to the Speedway for the first time in 100 years — AMA Pro’s newest class championship has narrowed to just twelve points. Points-leader Chris Fillmore (Bruce Rossmeyer Daytona Racing GEICO) came back from a demoralizing crash in Race 1 to take the Race 2 victory, burning up his previous surplus of points but preserving a narrow lead. With just one race to settle the score, he and runner-up Steve Rapp (Parts Unlimited) will have each other and a full field of equally hungry competitors to contend with at NJMP. In addition to the exciting on-track action, New Jersey Motorsports Park and AMA Pro Road Racing will play host to a wide offering of fan activities, from autograph sessions to Fan Walks to a fan-appreciation barbeque and more. To purchase tickets or to view a full schedule of both on- and off-track events, visit www.njmp.com or call (856) 327-7217. Same-day television coverage of the weekend’s racing begins at 10 p.m. ET both Saturday and Sunday on SPEED.
