SWAN YAMAHA SET FOR CADWELL PARK TITLE FIGHTER DECIDER THIS BANK HOLIDAY The Swan Yamaha team head to Lincolnshire this August Bank Holiday weekend for the ninth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship as Tommy Hill and Michael Laverty prepare to fight for victories in the final three races ahead of the Showdown. Hill has already secured his place as a Title Fighter in the final three round Showdown after his victory and second place last time out at Brands Hatch and will be biding to extend his advantage over his title rivals in the Podium Credit table. Laverty currently lies fourth overall in the standings ahead of the weekend and is determined to return to the podium to maintain his position in the top six so the Swan Yamaha team leave the Lincolnshire circuit with both riders in contention for the championship. Hill said: “Cadwell Park should be another good round for us and after winning the third race at Brands Hatch I can’t wait to get back out on the Swan Yamaha. Everyone can see how hard we are all pushing now and we all have a mutual respect for each other on the track, but at the same time we have a job to do and that is to win the championship. I know that some of the other riders have been out testing there, but that doesn’t faze me and I want to go out and enjoy those three races now we are in the Showdown. I am two races down on potential podium credits because we missed Oulton Park earlier in the season, so I want to score as many as possible this weekend to put us in the best possible place going into the big Showdown. Both myself and Michael will be going all out to win and we can also use this round to make some changes that could benefit us in the Showdown. I will then approach the final races differently to last year; just taking it one race at a time.” Laverty said: “I see my place as quite safe really barring any major disasters in the three races this weekend. I need to be in the Showdown and I think we can have a strong round at Cadwell Park and hopefully we can claw back some of those podium credits we have missed out on at the last few rounds. We need to approach the weekend as one big test ahead of the Showdown and finding that minuscule one or two percent gap to the front three that we were missing at Brands Hatch. It isn’t a lot but it will make all the difference in being able to challenge them for the victories. We are in with a shot of the race wins and I want to get the Swan Yamaha back on the podium before the Showdown as those extra credits could prove vital at the end of the season.”
