Utah Ride For Kids Raises $35,247 For Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation

Motorcyclists contribute more than $35,000 at Utah Ride for Kids® Utah’s young brain tumor survivors had some powerful allies on their side on Saturday, Aug. 13. Motorcyclists brought $35,247 in donations to the area’s seventh Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation® Ride for Kids®. This Is the Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake City was the start point for the ride, which was led by eight local brain tumor survivors “” Sada, Jimmy, Lynzi, Brayden, Brian, Zoe, and PBTF college scholarship recipients Holli and Kimberly. The riders climbed to the top of Emigration Canyon on their way to the Celebration of Life at Riverside Park in Morgan City. Mayor Jim Egbert and Councilwoman Shelley Betts welcomed the crowd of 175, and everyone listened intently as the young people talked about their lives. “I cannot thank you enough, your volunteering means more than you will ever know,” said Holli. Added 11-year-old Sada, “Thanks for bringing the motorcycles, they are really fun. I like the wind in my face.” Top fundraisers at the event were: Individual: Max Maxedon, $9,059 Club/Chapter: Members of GWRRA NV-H, $9,103 Motorcycle Business: Customers of Tri City Performance, $11,064 Donated drawing prizes went to Justin Barnard (Honda motorcycle); Dennis Price (AGV helmet); Mike Miller (Dunlop tire); Kelly Nelson (Tourmaster luggage); and Brett Hedges (Cardo Systems headset). Byron and Debbie Quick and Carol and Harvey Dean led the volunteer team that organized this year’s event. Ride with us next year on Saturday, Aug. 12.
