American J.D. Beach, age 19, will race in the FIM Moto2 World Championship event August 26-28 at the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix. “J.D. Beach is going to be riding a FTR M211 for Alex Debon’s Aeroport de Castello/Cartellon Mediterraneo Blumaq team at Indianapolis,” GP Tech Owner Geoff Maloney told roadracingworld.com today. Maloney is testing today at Gingerman Raceway with 17-year-old Jake Gagne, who he is entering as a “wild card” in the Moto2 race at Indianapolis. Gagne will ride a Team GP Tech FTR M210 (equipped with updates) with support from FOGI Racing. “We’ve been working with Alex’s team in the past,” continued Maloney, “and we are both working toward the same goal of getting more Americans into the Moto2 World Championship. “At Indy, we’re going to have Alex’s team and my GP Tech team located next to each other on pit lane and the garage divider walls taken down so I can look after both guys. “J.D. is really motivated and really looking forward to the opportunity, but he is also a little apprehensive because he has never ridden a Moto2 racebike before and he won’t have the opportunity to even throw a leg over his FTR until he gets to Indy.” Beach, the 2010 AMA Pro SuperSport East Champion and 2008 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup Champion, will ride at the AMA Pro Racing test August 18-19 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but because he is considered a “substitute rider” he will not be allowed to ride his actual Moto2 racebike. Instead, Beach will test on a Honda CBR600RR provided by Peak Powersports, according to Maloney. Gagne, however, will be allowed to test his GP Tech FTR M210 August 18-19 at Indy because he is a “wild card,” again according to Maloney.
