California State Championship Round 3 Coming Up At Willow Springs International Raceway Round 3 of the California State Championship presented by Dunlop is scheduled for Sept. 17-18, 2011, at the Willow Springs International Raceway 2.5 mile course with WSMC. It will also be the final round in the series, and the class champions as well as the overall state champion will be crowned at the conclusion of Sunday’s races. New for the final round this year: there will be a one-hour tag team race on Saturday, Sept 17, at the end of the practice day. This race is open to all racers with eligible motorcycles. Teams will consist of two riders who will each use their own motorcycles. Motorcycles must be in the same displacement category heavyweights team up with heavyweights, middleweights team up with middleweights, lightweights team up with lightweights. One allowance: if a middleweight 600 class motorcycle wants to team up with a 750 class motorcycle, it will be allowed, however, the team will need to compete in the heavyweight division. Pre-entry is $160 per team, post entry is $180. The full rules and sign up forms will be posted on the website by Monday August 8, 2011. Shandra Crawford, organizer of the event had this to say, “The final round of the California State Championship is shaping up to be a very exciting event to watch. There has been really good competition at the first two rounds, and it’s going to come right down to the wire to decide some of the championship races. The tag team race is going to a fun race to watch as well as ride in. I wanted to do a team event at Willow Springs that would include the local riders and give the fans something different. The staff at WSMC last year was awesome with the 4-hour, and the response was really good. This year, I realize budgets are a lot tighter, so this event is geared to make it more affordable for the racers.” There is a track day available Friday Sept 16 before the event held by Motoyard Trackdays. There is an additional discount for licensed racers. For more information and to sign up, go to ~http://motoyardtrackdays.com~.
