Marco Melandri has renewed his contract to stay with the factory Yamaha team for the 2012 FIM Superbike World Championship. That’s the word from the official Superbike World Championship website, which is citing a report in a weekly Italian magazine. Yamaha has not yet announced the new deal but may do so during this coming weekend’s Superbike World Championship event at Silverstone. Melandri’s current teammate Eugene Laverty is already contracted to Yamaha through 2012.
