Combined FIM and TTXGP race expected to be thrilling MUENCH faces strong US Teams in Laguna Seca What has been planned for 2 years will now come true in Laguna Seca (USA) on July 22nd till July 24th. Both e-bike racing series the FIM and TTXGP are looking forward to hosting their first conjoint competition. In line with the FIM Moto GP race international teams will compete against the North American eGrand Prix Teams. It is a clever move of the races’ hosts to elate more and more fans to the e-bike racing scene by adding more teams to the competition. The race will take place on the legendary Mazda Raceway in Laguna Seca on Sunday, July 24th at 11.25 a.m. local time. The racetrack is one of the most famous of the United States’ pacific coast. With a length of 3.601 meters it is important to combine technique and speed. Fans and enthusiasts can really look forward to the famous “Corkscrew”. The curve is extremely steep and the drivers have to perform a quick shift in direction to cope with it. “Due to its fast raceway we were already able to use the TTE-2.0’s advantages in the upper speed range in Spa. The Mazda Raceway in Laguna Seca has similarities but offers much more ascents and descents on the other hand. I am really looking forward to this challenge because we finally get to compete against American teams as well,” says MUENCH driver Matthias Himmelmann. “Moto CZYSZ, Brammo and Mission Motors are just a few of the teams which will participate in the race. On June 26th and with a new Laguna Seca racetrack record of 1:43.7 Mission Motors already proved that compared to Europe e-bike racing in America has reached another level,” states Himmelmann. “At this point we don’t know how good we are and are really curious for the upcoming prestigious race.” After two of four FIM competitions Matthias Himmelmann leads the field with 45 points ahead of main opponent Alessandro Branetti (CRP Racing, 25points) from Italy. Winning the race in Laguna Seca Himmelmann would be one step closer to the 2011 FIM e-Power International Championship title. One can be really curious who will be ahead of the competition after eight suspenseful laps. Time Schedule Open Practice: Friday, 22.7., 1.30 – 2.00 p.m Qualifying: Saturday, 23.7., 4.45 – 5.15 p.m Final Race: Sunday, 24.7., 11.25 a.m. Further Information can be found via www.muenchmotorbikes.com
