BOGDANKA PTR Honda’s James Ellison will be on double duty for the remainder of the season, taking part in the British Superbike series along with his World Supersport commitments. The 30-year-old from Kendal, Crumbia, former World Endurance, double European Superstock Champion and BSB runner-up with six wins in the series to his name, is set to ride for Robin Croft’s Honda team starting from Oulton Park in two weeks time. Ellison is currently 12th in the World Supersport Championship ahead of Bogdanka PTR Honda’s home race at Brno in the Czech Republic this weekend. The team had no second thoughts to let James have more track time and show his potential in the BSB series. James Ellison: “I’m very excited. Robin Croft is a very good friend of mine and he supported me for a long time. He was left without a rider lately and asked if I’m available. Simon Buckmaster, Michael Piasecki and the whole Bogdanka PTR Honda team had nothing against it as it won’t take anything away from the World Supersport Championship and it will give me more track time on a bike. The CBR1000RR is a bike I’m comfortable with as it’s pretty much the same bike I used last year. It handles similar to the CBR600RR to be honest and I’m very familiar with the team too so it’s an easy transition. BSB is a tough championship and it won’t be easy but I’m going out there to be at the front. I’d like to thank Simon, Michael and the whole Bogdanka PTR Honda team for allowing me race as not many teams would let their rider do that.” Simon Buckmaster, Bogdanka PTR Honda Team Manager: “James is fully committed to the World Supersport Championship and it is on those grounds that we have agreed he can also race in BSB. We think the additional track time will help him and he will wear Bogdanka branding in BSB, which is good for our sponsors, so it is a win for everyone involved. We are very interested to see how he can run on a Superbike – it has long been PTR’s aim to run in World Superbikes and James is top of our rider list if we can gather the sponsorship to do so, good results here will help our shared ambitions I am sure.”
