WERA Recaps Last Weekend’s Road Atlanta Regional And Previews July 9th-10th Double-Header Weekend At Grattan Raceway

ROAD ATLANTA WINNERS AND DOUBLE HEADER COMING UP!

The Pirelli/WERA Sportsman Series saw Mother Nature keep riders wet, but kept the pavement dry! It was hot, but so was the competition. All results can be found on the website ~http://maps.wera.com/~, but a few stood out.

Vintage racers on Saturday who took wins included David Crussell who took two in Formula 2-Stroke and V5; as did Dick Gruhn who won Formula 500 and V3; Doug Bowie took 350GP; Wm Royce Eaton won V1; William Brankin won V4; William Rhyne took V6 Lightweight; James Walker won 500GP and Charles Gault won V2.

Saturday Solo winners were Donald Allison in Mediumweight Novice; Huntley Nash took the Mediumweight Expert win; Lightweight Expert went to Tim Birdsong and Novice winner was Darrell Emerson; Heavyweight Expert winner was local favorite Opie Caylor and the Novice winner was Ian Coleman.

Sunday Sprint races were contested under sun and with a lot of heat and humidity Huntley Nash continued his winning ways with three #1s in C Superbike, C Superstock and B Superbike Expert classes; Opie Caylor also took wins in Formula 1 and A Superstock; Tim Birdsong won Lightweight Twins Superstock and Superbike; while Donald Allison walked away with Novice wins in C Superbike and Superstock; Ian Coleman won the Novice B Superbike and Superstock classes; Jimmy Merck won in B Superstock Expert; Brian Stokes won A Superbike Expert; Bobby Stoker took wins in the Novice A Superstock and Superbike Classes; and Novice Nikk Rogers won Formula 1.

Longtime WERA rider Scott Carpenter dominated in the Senior Superbike HW Class while Major Long, Jr. took the win in the Senior Superbike MW Class; Novice winners were Dave Kier and Michael Gilmer respectively. In the Heavyweight Twins Superbike Class Scott Brown took the honors for the Experts and Dave Frederick won the Novice side; Women’s Superstock was won by Anne Roberts; Palmer Kling won the 125cc GP; William Brankin continued his winning ways Sunday in Clubman Expert; Brian Mullins took the win in Clubman Novice, and won also in D Superbike Novice. Bryant Gripp took the D Superbike Expert win; Greg Kuhlman won D Superstock Expert and Carl Goutell won the Novice side. Jason Helms won Lightweight Twins Superbike Novice. Giovanni Rojas won Heavyweight Twins Superstock and Jonahan Burgio took the Novice win. Ray Hickman won in V7 Heavyweight.

July 9/10 at Grattan Raceway the Pirelli/WERA Sportsman Double Header weekend sprint racing both days for points and contingency! Pre-entry will close on July 4th at midnight!
