Yamaha Auctioning Off Spies, Edwards Gear Online To Benefit Charity

Yamaha to Auction MotoGP Stars Ben Spies and Colin Edwards’ Gear to Benefit Feed the Children Cypress, Calif., June 14, 2011 – Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. is pleased to announce another incredible opportunity to bid on two of its American MotoGP riders’ racing gear, all to benefit Feed the Children, Yamaha Motor Corporation’s corporate charity. The first set of leathers to be auctioned are directly off the back of Team Yamaha Factory rider, “The Texas Terror”, Ben Spies, who has generously donated a set of his original Alpinestars factory leathers, boots and gloves. The second package is from none other than Team Monster Tech 3 Yamaha rider, “The Texas Tornado”, Colin Edwards. Colin’s gear includes a full set of gear worn by the American MotoGP Star, including Spidi leathers, his Arai helmet and Sidi boots and gloves. Colin has also donated a 4 day “Texas Tornado Boot Camp” session at his exclusive camp in Texas. The winning bidder(s) will also receive a pair of weekend 3-day general admission passes including paddock access to the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, July 22-24 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and hotel room for Friday through Sunday, July 22-24. The winner(s) will also be invited on stage Saturday evening during the scheduled GE-sponsored concert ceremonies to receive their personally autographed gear directly from Ben and Colin. “Both Ben and Colin are tremendously popular with American race fans and all of us at Yamaha are proud that they have donated both their time and their gear to such a worthy cause,” said Bob Starr, Yamaha’s General Manager of National Communications, “And to see them both on the GE stage together at this years’ Red Bull U.S. GP will surely be a treat for all the fans, especially the winning bidders!” The auction will be conducted on eBay beginning June 14 and will continue through June 20.
