Team Obsolete has announced its lineup for AMA Vintage Days Mid Ohio 2011. · Vintage SuperTwins New class Dave Roper will ride an early 1980’s Harley Davidson XR909 special. The bike was built with factory help in the early 1980’s. Roper raced it into 1983. After lying in bits for decades, it has been overhauled with help from Carl Patrick and Don Tilley in preparation for VDMO. · Roper will also ride the ex-Al Gunter 1959 Matchless G-50 #1709; the same bike that he rode to spectacular victory at the 1984 Isle of Man Senior Classic TT, (the only American victory in the 104 year history of the TT). Dave will do demo laps on the bike, wearing his 1984 leathers. The bike was restored to exact 1984 specs and appearance, in preparation for the 2007 Isle of Man TT Centennial Celebration. · 1969 Benelli DOHC 350/4, Grand Prix; The exotic 16,000 rpm machine has twenty-four (24) valves, seven (7) gearbox ratios, and four open megaphone exhausts. It can be heard all the way around the track. The engine received a major (and expensive) overhaul after it ate its crankshaft last season, with assistance from Falicon. · Team Obsolete is sponsored by Avon Tyres, Vanson Leathers, Air Tech Streamlining, Works Performance Suspension, and R/D Valves Springs.
