International Motor Sport Federations join forces Today in Barcelona, Saturday June 4, the FIM organised a meeting with the other International Motor Sport Federations – FAI (Aeronautic) – FIA (Automobile) and UIM (Powerboating). During this meeting, the International Motor Sport Federations formed a Council with a combined initiative to promote sustainable sport. The purpose is to share knowledge and to develop joint environmental and alternative energy projects. More, from another press release issued by FIM: We: FIM, Dorna, IRTA & MSMA, recognise our responsibility toward a sustainable development and the importance of protecting our planet for the benefit of future generations. We commit ourselves to cooperate in the implementation of different environmental management programmes for the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix with the aim of reducing our ecological footprint in our daily activities and developing a sustainable approach when organising our events. We will partner with the relevant stakeholders (media & circuits among others) to develop these programmes starting with the press offices and progressively with pits, paddocks and hospitality units. Moreover, we will ensure the correct application of the FIM Environmental Code and promote awareness initiatives on environmental issues with the cooperation of high profile riders to inspire fans and motorcyclists worldwide to support this endeavour.
