FTR MOTO has launched the first of its planned series of retro machinery with Prodigy front man and racing enthusiast Keith Flint taking delivery of his M211 Moto2 machine in the colours of Ron Haslam’s Elf Honda of the 1980s. Flint has tested the machine at Silverstone and Brands Hatch in the last week, he said: “The machine is mega. The FTR boys have done an unbelievable job and to own a modern day Grand Prix machine is brilliant, something that race fans like me just dream of.” The Elf Honda Moto2 machine features the latest Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, OZ Grand Prix wheels and a CBR600RR motor. Flint added: “I managed to get a few laps of the new Silverstone, full Grand Prix circuit and the bike feels incredible I know there’s a lot of fun ahead with the FTR machine!” The Elf Honda is the brainchild of FTR’s Steve Bones and Mark Taylor and is the latest in the company’s evolution after taking Moto2 World Championship victories in 2010, challenging for the Spanish Championship title and becoming the first Moto2 constructor to race in the Isle of Man TT Races. Bones commented: “We’re really pleased with the Elf machine and Keith seems really happy with the final product. This is the next step for us in broadening our business spectrum and we’ve already had enquiries about the Elf Honda machine from prospective customers. “In addition to out MotoGP projects and the early stages of planning for Moto3 we’ve a busy schedule with our 12 riders we’re supporting in the 2011 Moto2 World Championship.” Flint’s website has the first footage of the FTR Elf Honda machine and can be viewed, at: http://www.teamtractioncontrol.com.
