PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is pleased to announce that KTM North America will be on location with its demo fleet at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, July 22-24, at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. The KTM lineup at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days — the largest gathering of vintage motorcycle enthusiasts in North America — will include the 690 Enduro, the 990 Adventure, the 990 Adventure R, the 990 Adventure Dakar, the 990 SMT, the 990 SMR and the 1190 RC8R. “This is an exciting model year for KTM’s street lineup, not the least of which is the exceptionally capable RC8R – a cutting-edge superbike that pushes the envelope for affordability and performance,” said KTM Ride Orange Manager Mark Hyde. “In addition, we’ll have on hand a full range of 990 street bikes, from the 990 SMT and SMR to the Adventure lineup, which this year includes the 990 Adventure Dakar. The Dakar model commemorates KTM’s 30 years of success at that international race, something we are extremely proud of. “AMA Vintage Motorcycles Days always brings out an enthusiastic crowd of demo ride participants,” Hyde added. “KTM North America’s roots run deep in the northern Ohio region, and we’re looking forward to showing off our lineup at the home of America’s premier celebration of motorcycling’s heritage.” KTM is no stranger to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The company partners with the track to offer the Race_Orange Track Day Experience, which offers a “Fly and Ride” program that provides everything a participant needs, from gear to a fully prepped bike to fuel, for a full track-day experience, including instruction time. AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days demo rides feature one of the nicest routes in the country. The facility includes a freshly paved access road that winds through the facility before exiting onto some gently rolling back roads through the northern Ohio countryside. Held at the world-class Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days features vintage and post-vintage competition in motocross, trials, hare scrambles, roadracing and dirt track. In addition to demo rides of current production bikes, the event includes North America’s largest motorcycle swap meet, educational seminars, bike shows, motorcycling seminars, the new product Manufacturers’ Midway, and club corrals featuring marque and regional clubs. The Marque of the Year at 2011 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days is Kawasaki. The event grand marshal will be announced shortly. Proceeds from AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days benefit the Motorcycle Hall of Fame. The goal of the Hall of Fame, located on the campus of the AMA in Pickerington, Ohio, is to honor the distinguished men and women whose competitive spirit, passion, vision and entrepreneurship have played a vital role in shaping the sport, lifestyle and business of motorcycling.
