Starting from 28th on the first grid, Robert improved with every lap and at the end was just a single place away from scoring points – a promising result that he can build on. Two red flags interrupted and delayed the race at Assen. The next round of the World Supersport Championship is at Monza in Italy on May 8th. Robert: “One place outside the points is not bad. Most importantly we improved my PTR Romania Honda for the race – especially the suspension. Three starts were hard but it is good to achieve a first finish for us. Now we have achieved this the next time we will get a better result. I was faster in the race than qualification, so this shows we are making good progress.” Simon Buckmaster, PTR Romania Honda Team Manager: “It was a difficult race with three starts but Robert coped well, kept his calm and got the finish he needed. Now we can build on the data and experience from here so Robert will be in a better position at Monza.” More, from a press release issued by Parkalgar Honda: PARKALGAR HONDA’S Miguel Praia scored a season best ninth place finish at the third round of the World Supersport Championship at Assen in Holland. Sam Lowes had been fighting for the lead of the race on his Parkalgar Honda when he suffered a nasty high side that caused the first of two red flags during the race. Sam suffered concussion and a broken collarbone in the accident and was taken to hospital. The next round of the World Supersport Championship is at Monza in Italy on May 8th. Miguel: “That was a hard race and I am pleased to have finished ninth. It is never easy to keep concentration when there are three starts. This is my best result of the season and for me it has been a positive weekend as we have made set-up improvements on my Parkalgar Honda. I am looking forward to Monza and starting that race with what we have found here, I want to keep this positive momentum and improving.” Simon Buckmaster, Parkalgar Honda Team Manager: “Miguel kept his composure and brought his Parkalgar Honda home for a good ninth place. He is building his pace and getting more comfortable with every event and we look forward to seeing what he can achieve at Monza. “Sam high sided while going for the race lead and has broken his collarbone and suffered concussion. We will be doing all we can with him to make sure he recovers quickly and fully; we expect him to be racing at Monza. He again showed his undoubted talent and his day will come.” More, from a press release issued by Bogdanka PTR Honda: BOGDANKA PTR HONDA Polish racer Pawel Szkopek scored his first World Championship points by finishing 13th at the third round of the World Supersport Championship at Assen in Holland. James Ellison on his Bogdanka PTR Honda finished seventh and is equal seventh in the Championship. Polish racer Marcin Walkowiak was 24th in the opening Superstock 1000 race after suffering a fast crash in qualifying yesterday. James Ellison: “Every time the race got red flagged it went in our favour because we could make some small changes to the bike, get further up the grid and then gain a few positions at the start. The race was going really well until half distance. I had a bit of a problem with the front all weekend and in the end the front tyre was gone – but other than that, the bike had a podium potential. I’m a bit disappointed but we’ll get the bike up there where it needs to be at Monza.” Pawel Szkopek: “I’m really happy with my first Championship points. It was a very difficult race but with each restart I was feeling more calm and confident and it paid off. My starts weren’t the best but the bike was brilliant today and I knew I could keep a good rhythm.” Marcin Walkowiak: “It wasn’t the start me nor the team expected but we were unlucky with the crash yesterday. I’ve had a bit of a problem with the chain today but while I’m not pleased with the result, I know we can do a lot better than that and I’m confident ahead of Monza.” Simon Buckmaster: “Congratulations to Pawel on his first World Champ points, he is building confidence for Monza and the next rounds. We will work hard with him to improve more. “James was disappointing in seventh and we struggled to find a good setting all weekend. His bike was better for the race and he got into 1m39s but was not able to maintain this level of performance. As a team we will do our utmost to get James fighting for the podium at Monza.” More, from a press release issued by Yamaha ParkinGO Team: Yamaha ParkinGo team score an hat trick, dominates a race that will be remember because of two red-flags due to spectacular incidents, luckily without any consequences. The start is brilliant for both the ParkinGO riders, that after one turn lead the race, where only Sam Lowes can keep up the pace. At the fifth lap the young british rider risk it all, attacking Chaz Davies reaching for the second place, but after the overtake he lose control ending on the ground and the umpires had to show the red-flag. New start with the grid set by the current positions with only 16 laps to go. Here, Chaz Davies immediately take off while Scassa is third after Rea. A new crush, where Jerman and Lundh are involved, draw to an another stop and start. Is again Davies leading while Scassa loses four positions. The british rider try to take up a gap, while “The Rocker” is busy in a thrilling fight with Fabien Foret on Honda Ten Kate, on which gain a lead at the sixth lap lowering the one on Rea and Marino. Scassa attacks, touching with the front tyre the back one of the french rider, ending on the ground. Davies, in the meanwhile stored up a good gap and keep managing the situation until the end, gaining the first win of his career in Supersport. With this 25 points and a 0 by Scassa, Davies is back fighting for the world championship title as well as Parkes, that thanks to the third final placing gains a second place on general ranking. Luca Scassa – Yamaha YZF R6 #9 – “Marino slowed down too early and I realized it a bit late so that I bumped into him. I’m disappointed because I was catching up and I would certainly ended at least in back of my team-mate. I keep the leadership on the ranking, even if with a lower gap, but I will try to get it back since our next round in Monza, where all my supporters will be there. I need to learn from this experience so that I’m not going to do the same mistake again.” Giuliano Rovelli – team owner – “The team showed that’s able to compete for the world title with both the riders. Chaz deserves this win, hopefully the first of much more. I fell sorry for Luca, but since he’s a winner I know he’ll be back from the next round on!” More, from another press release issued by PTR Romania Honda: PTR ROMANIA HONDA’S Robert Muresan has scored a single point in the World Supersport race result for Assen after Yamaha’s Roberto Tamburini was disqualified for an underweight bike. It means that he has scored a point on his first finish for the new Romanian team that is supported by Asirom, Ursus and the Romanian Tourist Board. More, from another press release issued by Parkalgar Honda: PARKALGAR HONDA’S Miguel Praia has been moved from ninth to eighth in the World Supersport race result for Assen after Yamaha’s Roberto Tamburini was disqualified for an underweight bike. It means that Miguel moves from 15th to 13th in the Championship on 13-points. More, from a press release issued by Kawasaki: Parkes On The Podium And Second In the Championship Broc Parkes and David Salom overcame several obstacles at Assen to record strong finishes on raceday, with Parkes third and Salom fifth in a twice re-started and eventually shortened race. Broc eventually took his second podium of the year and he is now only three points from the top, in second place overall, as points leader Luca Scassa crashed out of a race won by his team-mate Chaz Davies. Salom is now fifth overall in the points, only 16 from the leader, as he continues his push to take his first podium score of 2011. Massimo Roccoli, from the Kawasaki Lorenzini by Leoni Team, was sixth today and moved to seventh in the standings. His team-mate Vittorio Iannuzzo fell but is still inside the top 12 championship positions. Broc Parkes: “I was a little bit fortunate that some other riders went out but I was unlucky to be bumped wide in the first turn, so it was just luck coming back my way. I am second in the championship and only three points from first, so it is like the season just started again. We have learned some things to take from this weekend to Monza and the team is always working on new things, so we can look forward to that. We improved the bike every day here and I had the pace so we scored a podium and got some good points again.” David Salom: “A very confusing day but a good race. My start was good the first time but it did not count and in the second and third starts it was no good. I had some work to do to. I think I was in about 14th place in the first lap of the real race but when I got behind Broc he passed rider after rider and I got up to fifth place. My lap times were good and a top five was not so bad. We overcame some problems that we had in practice and I was happy to be able to make a pass on another rider in the last corner to make it into the top five.”
