FIM e-Power International Championship Mathias Himmelmann, an experienced rider The second year of the FIM e-Power International Championship for electric powered motorcycles is opening at the Bol d’Or in Magny Cours (France). There are less entries but the motorcycles performance are increasing. This morning, during the qualifying practice, the German rider Mathias Himmelmann took advantage of his experience. Last year’s winner of the Magny-Cours round and third in the 2010 FIM e-Power International Championship, Mathias Himmelmann made his best lap in 1’58.106. This Munch’s better performance is due to the technical evolution of the machine but also to weight’s loss of the motorcycle and the rider for over 10 kg. A newcomer in the FIM e-Power International Championship closely follows the Munch. Italian rider Alessandro Branetti (CRP Racing Team), former 250cc Grand Prix rider, took the second place in 2’01.875. The brand-new Spanish team LGN Racing lacks a bit of experience in competition. Marcelino Manzano rode his best lap of 2’29.250. The race of this first round of 2011 FIM e-Power International Championship will take place this afternoon at 5 pm. on 7 laps.
