The California State Championship road racing series has a scheduling change for the first round at Buttonwillow with WERA West, on April 22-23. Due to a lack of confirmed pre-entries, the California State 4-Hour Endurance Challenge and the Ninja 250 Two-Man Challenge have been cancelled. The revised schedule will have the traditional WERA Solo 20 races on Saturday afternoon, with sprint races held on Sunday.
The full weekend practice and race schedule can be viewed here: ~http://maps.wera.com/pdfs/2008Schedules/buttonwillow042411.pdf~.
Extras for the weekend are:
– Dinner at the track following the Solo 20 races. Tickets will be available at the track for the dinner of pasta, chicken, salad, dessert, and soda or water.
– An Easter Egg hunt on Sunday morning for all the racers; eggs will have candy, discount certificates for sponsor products, race entries, and cash.
There are two track days available that week as: Monday April 18 and Friday April 22 from Let’s Ride Track Days. Racer discounts for the track time are available, go to www.LetsRideTrackDays.com for more information and to sign up. Series organizer Shandra Crawford says she hopes to be able to revive the endurance races in the future.
“I know some racers were looking forward to doing an endurance event again this year, but I understand budgets are still rather tight,” Crawford says. “I considered the options of what would give the most racers the most track time and this was the best solution. I do want to thank WERA for their generosity of allowing me to have an endurance event with them. Hopefully next season we’ll be able to hold a 4-hour again. There is a really good interest in the sprint classes, and I’m looking forward to an exciting first round. I hope the racers enjoy it as well.”
