With the 2011 MotoGP season already underway millions of fans around the world are enjoying fantastic television coverage of the World Championship. Conveying the energy, passion and speed of the world’s premier class of motorcycling racing are no fewer than 63 television networks, delivering the thrill of MotoGP to 207 countries. Live coverage of all races and practices in full HD a service which is on offer for a second year has been taken up in 17 countries this year, as broadcasters continue to take advantage of the ever-evolving technology which is being developed to enhance the viewers experience of the sport. New agreements The growing popularity of MotoGP around the world has seen a host of new broadcasters come on board this season, meaning that the sport will continue to develop its reach to a truly global audience. In the Netherlands, Sport1 is showing all qualifying sessions and races throughout the year. TV Plus in Bulgaria will show MotoGP races live, with Moto2 and 125 live or with same day delayed broadcast, whilst in Ireland Setanta Sports will provide live coverage of the free practice and qualifying sessions and the races. Renewed agreements MotoGP’s established fan base, as demonstrated through the vast network of broadcasters and countries already broadcasting the Championship, means that there have also been some high-profile renewals of agreements with existing partners. MotoGP fans throughout the African continent will be served with coverage of the sport by Super Sport South Africa for a further five years, after the conclusion of a new agreement with the network. Two-year extensions have also been agreed with RTL Club in Belgium, Meridiano in Venezuela and NTV in Turkey. NTV Japan, the main private commercial network in the country, will continue to offer all 18 GPs throughout the season in conjunction with its affiliate G+. Autoplus Russia will continue to serve another key audience having extended its agreement for the 2011 season. Extended coverage Fans in Germany will enjoy even more in depth coverage of MotoGP throughout 2011 as Sport1 offers extended broadcasts through its Sport1+ channel. Fans will be able to follow MotoGP action throughout the entire weekend, starting with the practice sessions on Fridays.
