DUBLIN, OH (March 18, 2011) The Mid-Ohio School and its Official Insurance Company, Westfield Insurance, have announced a three-year extension of their relationship, continuing through 2013. Westfield Insurance, based in Westfield Center, Ohio has been partnered with The Mid-Ohio School since 2007 and the centerpiece of its involvement is the Honda Teen Defensive Driving Program. “Mid-Ohio has a reputation for having one of the best driving schools in the Midwest. Protecting newly licensed drivers is important to all of us. Through the school, young drivers learn good driving habits from professionals and gain hazardous driving experience in a safe environment,” said Ed Largent, Westfield Insurance Leader. “It’s about savings lives. This is an excellent program, and we’re glad to continue our partnership.” The Westfield Insurance Road Safe Teens program, an abbreviated version of The Mid-Ohio School’s Honda Teen Defensive Driving Program, is one of the key initiatives this relationship produces. Each spring for the last three years occurring this year on May 7 Westfield specially invites 200 customers, agents and employees with teenage drivers to The Mid-Ohio School for one of four sessions held throughout the day. The teens get behind the wheel of a Honda Civic and run through a number of drills including wet braking, emergency lane change, and skid car. “We’re thrilled that Westfield Insurance has agreed to renew their partnership for another three years. They have been a valued partner for The Mid-Ohio School, and I believe it’s a natural fit for us as we both are major advocates of safe teen driving,” said Craig Rust, President of The Mid-Ohio School. A new aspect of the relationship involves Westfield’s sponsorship of The Mid-Ohio School’s 2011 schedule. The School’s 19th season features over 180 driving dates and more than two dozen Performance Track Riding opportunities for sportbike owners. The schedule is available in its entirety online at www.midohio.com/School/Schedule. In business for more than 160 years, Westfield Insurance provides commercial and personal insurance in 20 active states and surety services to customers in 31 states. Westfield is one of the nation’s 50 largest property and casualty insurance groups, represented by a network of over 1,100 independent insurance agencies. Westfield Bank provides banking solutions for businesses and individuals, and Westfield Services provides service and training support for independent insurance agencies. The Mid-Ohio School, owned by Green Savoree Mid-Ohio, LLC, provides professional driving and riding instruction to drivers and motorcyclists of all skill levels. The School’s 16 automobile courses include Defensive Driving, High Performance and Racing programs. The motorcycle side features four Performance Track Riding formats. Students enjoy classroom sessions, skill drills, expert private instruction and lapping on the same track that challenges the world’s top racers. In 18 seasons, The Mid-Ohio School has 41,000 graduates, including 12,800 teenagers and 7,500 motorcycle riders.
