Austin DeHaven signs 2 year deal with Team Trasimeno Yamaha for European Superstock 600 Championship Team Trasimeno Yamaha is pleased to announce the signing of young talent and 2010 AMA Supersport Champion Austin DeHaven to compete in the 2011 European Superstock 600 Championship. After a very successful test back in November the team has come to an agreement to see Austin ride the #56 Yamaha Supported Team R6 in 2011 with an option to move to a higher class within the WSBK paddock in 2012. At 16yrs old Austin will not only be one of the youngest competitors in the World Superbike paddock but also the lone American in competition. “After the test in November I really felt I got along with the team well. Their bike was so well setup and the team is top notch all the way, but I knew moving to Europe and racing over there would be very difficult to make happen. Somehow though the team and my family put it all together. I am very excited about my future both with the team and within the Superbike paddock. Its the world championship and so many riders have come up through their ranks that I really look up too. Its all happened so fast though that my head is still sort of spinning, as we just got all the contracts signed in the last few weeks. We still need to secure a few more sponsors before seasons end, sell off my bike and trailer here in the states, and take care of a few little things, but I am packing my bags and leaving tonight for Rome!!” says Austin. “Austin really impressed us during his last visit, we have worked with many young riders over the years as a team and he definitely posses the skill and determination that we look for in a championship caliber rider. His level of detail in setup and feedback to the team was very impressive for a rider of his age. We felt that he could play a key role in our chase for the 2011 championship and thankfully along with many key partners we were able to put together a package that will give him a great shot and the top step of the podium this season” says team manager Moreno Bacchini. Austin will be supported with rider coaching in Europe by his long time riding coach Keith Code and members of the California Superbike School who will also attend most every event. “knowing I have good friends like Keith there to support me, and other riders he has worked with for so many years in the paddock like Leon Camier, I feel ready for this challenge,” says Austin. A facebook page has been setup to help raise sponsorship and travel funds to keep Austin’s season going. http://tinyurl.com/4wfqwep Check out Austin’s progress with Live twitter feeds, facebook updates and all kinds of fun new videos of not just racing, but life in the paddock and living in Europe as a 16yr old.. at: www.austindehaven.com twitter – @austindehaven56 youtube – wdigivideo facebook – http://www.facebook.com/Austin56Dehaven Most of all Austin would like to thank many of his long time sponsors that have stayed with him and helped make this step in his career possible: Motosport.com, KBC Helmets, SHIFT Racing, Pirelli Tires and the California Superbike School, along with TCX Boots, CT Racing, EBC Brakes, PSR USA.
