Team Iron Horse BMW/ESP (Tucson, AZ) Racing the BMW S1000RR in the 2011 AMA Superbike Season with Riders Chris Peris and Tony Kasper. Team Iron Horse BMW/ESP (Tucson, AZ), with tremendous development and early success on the BMW S1000RR in 2010, is thrilled to announce their participation in the full 2011 AMA Pro Racing season with riders Chris Peris (#8) and Tony Kasper (#68). Iron Horse Motorcycles, a BMW motorcycle dealership, and Evan Steel Performance, both based in Tucson, AZ united together as a team last year and had immediate success with the mighty S1000RR and talented Canadian rider, Chris Peris. Their reaction and results together with their passion for racing entered them into 5 AMA rounds in the 2010 season with continued improvement and progress at every round. With a year of experience, testing and development, as well as additional support from BMW, the team has set its sights on the AMA Superbike podium. The opportunity to run the full season and build an ultimate superbike with highly competitive equipment has been made possible by our tremendous sponsors- BMW, Ohlins, Kyle Racing, GPR, Driven and Hot Bodies. We thank them in advance for a great year! Team Owner— John Cartwright: “I am proud to be called team owner and ecstatic to be surrounded by the people that make up Team Iron Horse BMW/ESP. We have all grown extremely close on this journey and feel very fortunate to be able to compete at this level on the BMW S1000RR. Our goals are simple: we want to become a household name when it comes to road racing in the U.S., and we want that success and reputation to drive the growth of both our dealership and speed shop to new heights.” Team Manager— Jennifer Cartwright: “Our team has the chemistry, talent and desire to put the BMW S1000RR on the podium. The stars aligned when Iron Horse BMW, ESP and Chris Peris came together as a team and we have since become a family. We have all worked hard to build the foundation of a strong race program this year and I think with the awesome support from BMW NA and our other fantastic sponsors, it will all pay off. We know that our results will speak for themselves, but we also hope that our team will become a model and inspiration for other non-factory sponsored teams to create a unique, competitive program and race for the most genuine reason- a passion for the sport and speed.” Pro Racer #8— Chris Peris: “I am very proud to say I will be racing the Iron Horse BMW/ESP S1000RR in AMA Superbike for 2011. Thanks to Iron Horse Motorcycles we were able to work with the S1000RR in 2010 and made huge progress with the bike. I am extremely excited to continue that momentum into our full 2011 season. I will be working along side ESP’s Evan Steel and Phil Allison. We have always enjoyed working together in the past and have had huge success together. In our last full AMA season together, in 2008, we finished 5th in the championship and achieved our first AMA podium. I plan on drastically improving on that this year and with the BMW S1000RR and our crew, it’s all too possible. We will continue to develop and test our S1000RR both at the shop and at the track in preparation for the season. I am riding my BMW as much as I can to get ready for the season at Peris Riding Schools, testing and racing, and will be showing up at Daytona expecting to put my Iron Horse BMW/ESP S1000RR on the podium.” Crew Chief— Evan Steel: “I am so excited about the 2011 season- I can’t wait to get started! This is the best crew, rider, bike, and support package we have ever had, and I am looking forward to a great season. I want to thank all the people who have helped me over the years to get to this point, especially my parents, Tom and Cindy Steel, and my girlfriend, Anna Murphy. When I started the shop in 2005, this is what we were working towards- building a competitive AMA Pro racing team. Now we have the opportunity to see how we fare against the best teams in the United States, and so the real hard work begins! We are aware of how hard it is to be competitive in Superbike, but we have podiums and race wins in other AMA classes, so it is time to move up. With a great bike like the BMW S1000RR, and a great rider in Chris Peris, we look forward to the challenge. It is also a great way to learn and improve our technical abilities at the shop, which trickles down to our local business. Let’s go racing!” Engine Builder—Phil Allison: “Daytona is coming fast, and I am really excited to see what we can do with the BMW S1000RR this year. Last year we were able to put it on the second row of an AMA Superbike race, just one second off of pole. With the help and support we are receiving this year, and with Chris Peris returning, and newcomer Tony Kasper piloting the bikes, it will be an exciting and fun year. ” For Sponsorship inquiries contact Jennifer Cartwright: (+1) 520 271 1596 or email: [email protected] Team Iron Horse BMW/ESP Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.
