Gino Rea signs for Intermoto in World Supersport 2011 World Supersport sensation Gino Rea has signed a new one-year deal to stay with the Intermoto Czech Honda team and wants to fight for title. Rea has shown that he has the pace to run at the front of the World Supersport class, the highlight of the season came at Nurbgurgring, where he raced wheel-to-wheel with Eugene Laverty for the victory, finished 2nd and just five thousandths of a second behind. Gino comments: “I really can’t wait for the 2011 World Supersport Championship to start, I’m glad that I finally signed for the Intermoto Czech team again. It means I’ll be continuing with the same team, same bike and same crew chief, Andrew Stone – so I’m expecting to bring the team some wins and podiums from the off. “At the start of last year in Phillip Island, the bike was still being built so it was the first time I’d ridden it. Andrew and I worked well together and gradually developed the bike throughout the year. Now we know what we need from the bike, I know the championship and our potential is much higher already.” The Intermoto Czech team run similar electronics to their rivals, but have less data and experience with the Motec advanced electronics. “There is still room for improvement in the bike, It was the team’s first year with Motec Electronics so it took time to develop. Towards the end of the season we had them working well, but we need to continue improving to be at the front. It is a similar situation with the suspension.” The Intermoto Czech team are currently building all-new 2011 CBR600s for the forth-coming season, which will start at the official pre-season test at Portimao on 26-28 January.
