Scott Greenwood was victorious in the Superbike Elite Class today at El Pinar Autodromo, Sunday in Uruguay. The event final, held under sunny skies and 85-degree temperatures was combined with both 600cc & 1000cc classes in one race but scored separately. Qualifying in 3rd place overall (2nd in class), Scott grabbed the holeshot and led the first 5 laps of the 18-lap race. Greenwood was challenged by Argentina’s Marco Solorza on the 6th lap at the end of the back straightaway. Solorza stormed past with Greenwood regaining the lead on the exit of the next corner. Solorza powered past again on lap 8 and took the lead until he made a mistake in traffic on lap 10 and took himself and Brazil native Carlos Pereria with him. From there, Scott was able to chase overall race leader, 16-year-old Amdres Gonzalez of Argentina, to the checkered flag. Gonzalez took the overall win (and 600cc Elite Class Win), with Greenwood earning the victory for the 1000cc Superbike Elite Class and 2nd Overall.

“It was a difficult race today. The Honda CBR1000RR was a challenge on the small El Pinar Autodromo race circuit. The track seemed to favor 600s with multiple tight 180-degree style corners, but the race was a lot of fun. I was able to lead the beginning part of the race and with a little racing luck was able to get the victory. The team did a great job with transforming a team member’s streetbike into a racebike. I was very proud to be able to give them 1st place in the Elite Superbike division and to see their reaction and excitement. It was priceless!” said Scott. “A special thank you to my sponsors from the USA that helped make the event happen for us: Argo Cycles, MaxSalvage.com, Dunlop, Arai, Chicken Hawk Tire Warmers and WoodCraft. Also the Uruguay sponsors for the event: Beach House Hotel and Spa – Punta del Este, Hemmingway Restuaraunt, Procrete and everyone else who chipped in, from the crew to the event staff!”
