Honda Australia returns to Road Racing with “Team Honda Racing” in 2011 Honda and Motologic have announced their powerhouse reunion for the 2011 Australian Superbike Championship assault. One of the most successful collaborations in Australian Superbike history, the partnership netted five national road racing titles including back-to-back titles in both Australian Superbike and Supersport for 2004 and 2005, and the 2008 Australian Superbike Championship. In 2009, despite not taking the crown, the Honda team with Glenn Allerton and Wayne Maxwell enjoyed its most dominant season to date, scoring five of seven pole positions and winning nine of fourteen races to finish second and third in the Superbike championship. After a season away, Paul Free is pleased to be back in familiar territory and is ready to pick up where he left off with Honda at the end of 2009. A force to be reckoned with, the newly formed “Team Honda Racing” already has its sights set on another Honda championship victory for 2011. With much of next season’s preparation already underway, there is only one remaining piece of the puzzle still to be finalised – the rider line up, which is expected to be announced soon. PAUL FREE: Team Honda Racing “It’s been quite a work in progress, but it’s all come together very well. “I think we’ve got a good program in place. We haven’t got too much more to do and we’re all organised. “Simply put, I’m happy to be back with Honda; it’s very familiar territory, and we’ll be working with an extremely strong motorcycle. “In 2004, we won Superbike and Supersport with Adam Ferguson, 2005 we won Superbike and Supersport with Brookesy and we also won the World Supersport race with Josh [Brookes] as a wildcard rider. And then the next one was the 2008 Superbike Championship with Glenn Allerton. “Without winning a championship, 2009 was probably our strongest season ever – we won a lot of races, qualified on pole just about everywhere, but because both Wayne [Maxwell] and Glenn [Allerton] were winning a lot of races and the two riders were taking points from each other, neither of them won the championship. “There’s only one championship aspiration for 2011, isn’t there… that’s to win it.” TONY HINTON: “Honda Australia and Paul have an outstanding history together.
