Kawasaki Racing Team aim high at the Macau Grand Prix this weekend The factory Kawasaki SBK Racing Team will kick start the 44th Motorcycle Macau Grand Prix with their first practice session today (18th) with road-racing ace, Keith Amor and new Kawasaki BSB recruit, Stuart Easton followed by the 15-lap race this Saturday 20 November. Macau is located in Southeast Asia, approximately 60 km (37 miles) southwest of Hong Kong, bordering China and is famously known as the Chinese Las Vegas with its towering and modern casinos. The Macau Grand Prix is a favourite annual event for the Paul Bird Motorsport squad who have enjoyed previous victory and numerous podium successes at the 6.2km Circuito Da Guia. This year the Kawasaki Racing Team, with the support of Dog-one-Life and IGT, have signed Scotland’s top road racer, Keith Amor to ride alongside previous winner of Macau, the baby-faced Stuart Easton. Easton continues to hold the lap record for the Macau Motorcycle Race with a 2.25.270 from 2009. The 57th Guia Race of Macau will also host an array of four-wheel action including the famous Formula 3 and the FIA World Touring Car Championship alongside the 44th year of motorcycle racing. Stuart Easton: “I have worked with the Paul Bird Motorsport Team for many years on-and-off and it’s always a pleasure to be asked by Paul Bird to ride the Macau Grand Prix. The factory ZX-10R has been a competitive machine in World Superbikes this year and therefore we have a great opportunity to grab some success here on Saturday. I know the Guia Circuit pretty well so I will hopefully adjust quickly to the latest 2010 spec Ninja machine in time for Thursday’s practice in order to get a good qualifying position Friday ready for Saturdays race. I am fairly confident that I can bring the green machine home in victory and I’ll be doing my best for the boys, Kawasaki and Paul Bird Motorsport.” Keith Amor: “It’s been a while since I’ve ridden at Macau but when Paul Bird called me during September and asked me to ride his factory ZX-10R this year, I jumped at the chance. It’s not every day as a road-racer, you get the opportunity to ride a factory machine which competes in World Superbikes. I had a run out on the bike at Magny Cours in France after the SBK race and was pretty impressed with the engine power and capabilities of the Kawasaki.
