Mid-Ohio was built by Mansfield-area businessman Les Griebling as a place for sports car racing in 1962 with its first races sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). As the track grew in popularity and stature over time, it was eventually sold to Jim Trueman in 1982. Trueman invested millions into the facility and lured major series such as CART and IROC developing the track as one of the most premier venues in the country. Over the past five decades, thousands of races both professional and amateur have been contested at Mid-Ohio with some of the greatest drivers and riders in history earning wins. The esteemed fraternity of Mid-Ohio winners includes names such as Mario Andretti, Mark Donohue, Emerson Fittapaldi, Dario Franchitti , Hurley Haywood, Bobby Rahal, Jackie Stewart and Al Unser, Jr., to name a few. A comprehensive motorsports facility, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course features a permanent road-racing circuit with two primary configurations: a 2.4-mile, 15 turn, and a 2.25- mile, 13-turn circuit. The park-like, 330-acre complex is located in Lexington, Ohio, near Mansfield, 60 miles north of Columbus and 75 miles south of Cleveland. The track has been called the most competitive course in the U.S. and annually hosts a diverse lineup of locally, regionally and nationally sanctioned racing events for amateur, club and professional drivers and riders. Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is owned and operated by TrueSports, Inc.
