This coming weekend AMA Pro riders Martin Cardenas and Santiago Villa will race at home in Round 4 of the Colombian National Championship, at Tocancipa Raceway in Bogota, Colombia. The pair will face off against Juan Felipe Velasco, a fellow Colombian competing in the Italian National Championship, and 2009 Colombian Supersport National Champion Juan Camilo Correa. Cardenas, Villa and Velasco will use this weekend’s race as well as the season finale scheduled for December 11-12 at Tocancipa to prepare for their 2011 racing seasons. Cardenas will compete on a Suzuki GSX-R600 while Villa and Velasco will be on YZF-R6 Yamahas and Correa will his his Ducati 848. “This race here in Colombia is great for us,” said Villa. “Martin and I love to come and play in our own backyard, and it’s an opportunity to keep racing and training for next season. Also it’s fantastic to race against great Colombian riders like Juan Felipe Velasco and Juan Camilo Correa. My goal is to stay with Martin and see what I can learn for free from the 2010 AMA Pro Sportbike Champion! “For the season finale in December, there are rumors that the Hernandez brothers, Yonny and Santiago, who race Moto2 in the Spanish Championship and the World Championship, will join us. Stefano Mesa and Tomy Puerta may also join us in December, so if that happens, for sure it will be the best battle ever in our country’s history. I can’t wait to race against all these guys and I will give my best.”
