METZELER FOR SAFETY AT EICMA 2010 Metzeler continues its commitment to safety and international roundtable initiative to create an active conscious towards this theme MILANO (Italy) 5 November, 2010 Metzeler’s international campaign promoting awareness of the condition of motorcyclists’ bikes, the use of proper equipment and especially the proper monitoring of tyre pressures made its second stop in Italy during the EICMA show in Milan, Italy. The first safety roundtable was organized in Spain this September as part of the “BMWRiders” event in Formigal, during which complimentary digital tyre pressure gauges were distributed. The presence of Metzeler at EICMA is not simply limited to a booth dedicated to its FeelFree WINTEC maxi-scooter product offering performances also in low temperatures and wet conditions, nor to its new Roadtec Z8 Interact™ sport touring tyre, but to reach beyond the product for an active safety consciousness. Metzeler once again opens a dialogue with motorcyclists in the form of these relatively simple but critical discussions. The various companies and organizations involved in the project stressed that the commitment is a collective responsibility for the future of motorcycling, since official research provided by DEKRA in a 2010 report showing that young riders were most at risk. This commitment from Metzeler follows the recent signing of the ERSC (European Road Safety Charter), coming just shortly after the close of its “Wheels are the Champions” web contest with participation of over 14,000 European motorcyclists. The Metzeler safety roundtable at EICMA took place on Friday, November 5, involving an audience of press and bloggers to cover topics of primary interest to both companies and institutions actively engaged in making motorcyclist safer. The year 2011 will see the project’s extension to other countries with a list of activities and promotions for encouraging a greater attention to the issue of safety at all levels.
