VIRginia International Raceway Hires Director of Track Operations

Danville, VA – October 27, 2010 – VIRginia International Raceway today announced that Kerrigan Smith will assume the title of Director of Track Operations beginning November 1st, 2010. Between now and year’s end, Kerrigan will be transitioning into this role from his position as the acting General Manager of Synergy Racing, which is based in the RacePlex at VIRginia International Raceway. “I am very humbled and honored to represent one of the best road racing tracks in the world,” Kerrigan said. “I feel that each step in my professional career has led to this current position. I look forward to contributing to the owner’s vision and expectations of VIR.” A native of Richmond, VA, Smith spent eight years at what is now known as Synergy Racing where he has risen through the ranks. During his time there, Kerrigan was directly involved in the team’s Grand Am national road racing championships in 2005-06 as well as in the design & building of all of the team’s Porsche 997 race cars. “From our large spectator events to the kart tracks and off-road trails, it’s all about dealing with the people and the details in a friendly, knowledgeable manner,” said Connie Nyholm, Managing Partner of VIR. “Kerrigan is the perfect match for us and we are extremely excited about him joining our team as Director of Track Operations. If it has wheels, he’ll find a welcome home for it.” Kerrigan currently resides in Greensboro, NC with his wife Kathleen and daughter Addison where they are expecting their second child early next year.
