TTXGP charges forward with Electric-Powered Motorcycles Race attendees are captured by the next generation of motorsport DETROIT Clarity Research LLC, a leader in powersports market research, today released data from its syndicated Powersports Event Monitor (PEM) survey of the 2010 AMA sport bike race event attendees, showing that attendees had awareness of the TTXGP races in the three U.S. races. David Pagnucco, Clarity Research partner, says its PEM surveys provide a comprehensive profile of motorcycle race attendees throughout the U.S. “The PEM surveys are in their 4th year. Clarity maintains a normative database of key race track and event attendees’ attitudes and behavior. We have been studying the behavior of race track attendees for the past 4 years. Since the TTXGP races were the first ever Electric-powered motorcycle races in the U.S., we decided to include a new section into our PEM survey specifically addressing attendees’ awareness and attitudes towards E-powered motorcycles. These results provide a baseline for the U.S. or other countries where the TTXGP is held,” said Pagnucco. An intercept survey was conducted at each of the three U.S. based TTXGP races: Infineon Raceway (Sonoma, CA; May 14-16), Road America (Elkhart Lake, WI; June 3-6) and Virginia International Raceway (Alton, VA; August 13-15). The results of the PEM E-Motorcycle special section are based on a total of 417 randomly intercepted attendees across all three races. TTXGP Drives Awareness and Attendance “A significant proportion of attendees (over 33%) at all three races were aware of the TTXGP race prior to coming to the race. The Infineon race had the highest proportion of attendees who were aware of the TTXGP,” comments Pagnucco. The survey showed that TTXGP, whilst being a support class to the AMA-Pro, was a motivating factor for more than 20% of the attendees. TTXGP Sparks Strong Interest in Electric Motorcycle Ownership Having experienced a TTXGP event, at least 10% of AMA-Pro race day attendees would give strong consideration to purchasing an electric powered motorcycle and over 40% would now at least consider it. According to the crowds, expectations were high that either Honda or BMW would be among the first gasoline motorcycle manufacturers to produce electric motorcycles! “Working with Clarity has given us key intelligence that will focus the efforts for 2011 and help our partners and teams to build the next generation of motorsport. For the first year, the results have been very encouraging. We have been able to engage so many of the traditional racing fans to buy into the future”, said Azhar Hussain, CEO of TTXGP. “The TTXGP mission is “Be Part of It”, this is an excellent start to delivering a shared vision for the next generation of motorsports,” comments Hussain.
