RNR Repsol Clenches Michelin Team Challenge GTU Championship, Grease Monkey Makes it a Perfect Season

October 16, 2010, Homestead, FL – Rick Beggs went solo on his Kawasaki 600 in the final round of the Michelin Team Challenge taking his RNR Repsol team to the win in the GTU class edging out Stiles Racing’s Meghan and Scotty Ryan. Although in the final race today at Homestead-Miami Speedway the Ryan’s finished second overall, besting Beggs in the race, they could not overcome the loss of points from missing the Carolina Motorsports round earlier in the year. Precious points lost in that round meant RNR Repsol scored the national championship by only 4 points.

Finishing first in today’s Team Challenge were MacLean Racing’s Felipe and Nicolas MacLean out of Key Biscayne, Florida aboard their Ducati 1098. Rounding out the podium were the Stiles Racing Yamaha R6 and Champion Racing’s Marco Martinez and Calvin Martinez on their Kawasaki 1000. The MacLeans also scored the GTO class top spot.

Champion Racing scoring the second place in GTO and Thrashed Bike Racing riders Tim Ivanoff and Joel Spalding claimed third for the class aboard Ivanoff’s Buell 1125. In GTU Stiles took the top class trophy with Beggs second on the RNR entry and A&G Shop riders Edward Alvarado and Mauricio Roque rounding out the GTU podium on their Yamaha R6.

Almost always at the top of GT Lights points for 2010 Eric Helmbach and Alex Shaw’s Grease Monkey Racing nailed the class national victory as well as the final round. Grease Monkey went 8 for 8 on the season, the first time a Team Challenge team scored the win in every round.

Chris Sullivan Racing’ Chris Sullivan and Carl Cohen finished second in the race on a Ducati 1000 and Kat Zimpel, Sean Dwyer and Chris Boy teamed up to put the Motocorse Performance Bimota 1000 entry on the third step.
