The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation® (PBTF) Ride for Kids® is pleased to announce an eBay auction of Roger Lee Hayden’s signed leathers from the Moto2 race at the Red Bull Indianapolis GP on Aug. 29, 2010. ~http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180574670378&ref=nf~ The race was a one-off effort by American Honda to showcase the Moriwaki MD600 and to raise awareness about childhood brain tumors and funds for the PBTF. The Honda Riders Club of America has been the presenting sponsor of the PBTF’s Ride for Kids® program since 1991. In Moto2 action at Indy, two separate crashes on the opening lap of the race brought out the red flag. Roger Lee Hayden was taken down in the pileup, and while he was shaken up his Moriwaki Honda MD600 sustained significant damage. “I got a good start but then somebody’s rear wheel locked up and they ran into the back of me. I guess I’m lucky to be okay,” Hayden later explained. “I’m just glad we got to go out there and finish the race.” Alpinestars donated Hayden’s top-level custom suit, which was handmade from design to production at their headquarters in Asolo, Italy. Their seamstresses worked around the clock to create the leathers in a very short period of time. The damage is clearly visible on the leathers, which feature the Ride for Kids® logo and Hayden’s signature. (Go to the auction for more images.) All auction proceeds will go to the PBTF through MissionFish. Bids will be accepted from North American bidders with a positive bidding history only. The auction began on Oct. 14 and will continue through 10 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, Oct. 23. Shipping and delivery details are all specified on the auction page. This is an amazing opportunity to own a very special piece of history and will be a great addition to any motorhead’s personal collection. Now whether you choose to wear them at a track day is up to you! About the PBTF Ride for Kids® The national Ride for Kids® program and the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation® (PBTF) promote childhood brain tumor research and provide family support through free literature about brain tumors, educational newsletters, online conferences and college scholarships. Thank you to our presenting sponsor, Honda Riders Club of America, and our national insurance sponsor, GEICO. For more information, go to www.rideforkids.org or call 800-253-6530.
