Schrötter, who always has difficulties in the past to get used to the new conditions of each new racetrack, could straight away adapt to the difficult Malaysian track and finished the first free practice today in 17th place. Marcel Schrötter, 17 2’17.453: “It really is hot around here and when you come in the pit garage after the session it feels like 100 degrees inside your leathers. The track itself is quite difficult and not bad for me. I can handle it well and I hope I will continue to improve tomorrow.” Terrell Thien, Team Manager: “Marcel prepared himself very well for this Grand Prix. He did a good training and looked at the layout of the track closer and he started this Grand Prix on a very good level. This track is not easy and has many long straights and he managed them really will. I am happy for these improvements.” Sepp Schlögl, Chief Mechanic: “Marcel improved since Motegi. The track is not so easy to ride on, but he did a good job. Of course we set up the bike regarding to the conditions of this track, but we did not change too many things regarding the base set up. I hope Marcel will find the right rider to follow.”
