Local Motorcycle, Karting Championships Wrap Up This Weekend at Miller MotorsportsPark Numerous titles on the line TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (October 7, 2010) “” The 2010 seasons for the Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains motorcycle racing series and the Utah Kart Championship presented by Sunoco Race Fuels will conclude this weekend, October 9-10, at Miller Motorsports Park. The Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains series is a seven-race motorcycle road racing series developed by Miller Motorsports Park, run by the Utah Sportbike Association (USBA) and sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) to encourage and develop fun and competitive road racing at the club and regional levels. This weekend is the final round of this year’s seven-race championship. Riders will be competing on the 4.5-mile Full Course in 19 different classes for contingency money (provided by sponsors for using their products), trophies and points toward the series championship. This weekend’s event will also include the United States Grand Prix Riders Union (USGPRU), the officially recognized 125 Grand Prix National Championship® and 250 Grand Prix National Championship® series. The popular Moriwaki MD250H spec-bike youth class and the exciting new Moto3 classes round out a real GP experience. The USGPRU provides a unique opportunity for riders by providing extended-length grand prix racing with timed qualifying and superb contingency and sponsor support. The schedule for both days includes practice sessions in the morning, with racing starting at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday and 11:05 p.m. on Sunday. Saturday’s schedule includes a 90-minute endurance starting at 4:00 p.m. Racing will wrap up at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and 5:05 p.m. on Sunday. The Utah Kart Championship presented by Sunoco Race Fuels is a 10-race series that runs from June through October, developed by MillerMotorsportsPark to encourage and develop kart racing in Utah and the surrounding region. Karters will be competing for trophies and points in their respective classes. The championship is comprised of 12 classes, based on age and engine size/type. Ages range from five to 65; and the karts can range in top speed from 25 mph to 95 mph, depending on class. This Saturday is the final round of the Utah Kart Championship presented by Sunoco Race Fuels. Practice for all seven race groups will start at 8:00 a.m., with heat races starting at 10:00 a.m. Feature races will start at 1:00 p.m. and will finish at approximately 5:30 p.m. The Miller Kart Track will be open for rentals on Sunday starting at noon, and lunch will be available at both the Ace Café and the MMP Clubhouse on both days. Tickets will be $6 per day for adults, and kids 12 and under are admitted free of charge.
