Hale Wins Five With AFM At Thunderhill, Cinching Overall Points, Four AFM Class Championships Lenny Hale won five of five AFM races at Thunderhill Raceway Park this past weekend on his Yamaha YZF-R6, and left the track with the club’s overall championship. Hale also won the class championships for 600 Production, 600 Superbike, 750 Production, 750 Superbike, and took third overall in Formula 1. In two days of racing with rain in the morning and cooler temperatures on the second day, Hale stacked up his wins in 750 Production, 750 Superbike, Formula 1, 600 Superbike, and 600 Production after a red flag restart. In 600 Production, Hale went back and forth with Tyler O’Hare on his YZF-R6, those two vying for the lead with Berto Woolridge in third. On lap two of the race, Woolridge crashed going into turn five, and Hale hit the oil from the crash on the next lap and tumbled through the turn. Two more bikes right behind Hale hit the fluid and nearly collided as the race was red flagged for the cleanup. Both Hale and Woolridge were able to make it into the pits and re-enter the race and their back up bikes. On the restart, Hale was able to maintain his lead and take the win. “It was nice to have the competition from Tyler this weekend,” said Hale. ” All season long, he’s been the best competition I’ve had, and he always brings his best. I’ve really had a lot of fun racing him this year, and look forward to more good competition next year. “I also want to thank my sponsors: Dunlop, PSR, Garage Endeavors, EDR Performance, Factory Bodyworks, Pacific Track Time, Arai Helmets, NJK Leathers, for helping me with my racing effort this season. It’s been kind of tough this year, but I’ve had some really good results, and couldn’t have done it without their help.” For more information, go to www.LennyHaleRacing.com .
